Bruces Hill Cattle Company
Montgomerys Foodhall sources its meat from our own farms at Kells and Greenisland where we have the Lisnawiggle Aberdeen Angus Herd and our Romeney Sheep.
Our Foodhall is also the exclusive partner to the prize winning Bruces Hill Cattle Company from Ballymena. This means that we are able to bring to our customers grass fed meat from the local farm that incorporate the only "cattle friendly" roundhouse housing system in Northern Ireland, proven to generate less stressed and healthier cattle, with the resulting better meat quality. All the meat in Montgomerys is traceable back to our farms in County Antrim. We know where our quality meat comes from.
Bruces Hill has won numerous prizes for it cattle, including in 2011 the Aberdeen Angus Championship at the prestigious Royal Welsh Show. It is also a significant player in the reintroduction of Dexter Cattle to their native Ireland, with the biggest herd in Ireland and many awards for it's Dexter cattle including our own Montgomery Cup at Ballymena Show, for the Champion Dexter. We are delighted to be at the forefront of the reintroduction of this native breed, and are the premier retail destination for Dexter meat in Ireland.
Bruces Hill have farms at Ballymena, Templepatrick, and Glenwherry, and in partnership with Montgomerys are creating the environment for "old fashioned quality meat, reared on Irish Grass, and tasting the way it used to be". All from County Antrim.
